A global chemicals and energy company with over 16 000 frontline workers across various business units, operating in 32 countries.

The Business Challenge

One of the biggest challenges was the monthly printing and distribution of paper payslips to thousands of employees across various sites. This created several issues:

The client’s employees were spending extended periods away from home, or the client’s head office, labouring in underground mines and on large production sites. So, accessing their printed payslips presented a logistical nightmare.

These employees depend on their monthly salary to support their families, and the lack of easy access to digital payslips made it difficult for them to secure loans, apply for SASSA grants, enter hire-purchase agreements, or even purchase basic furniture on credit.

Additionally, any corrections to their pay often took at least a month to process, negatively impacting their lives and well-being.

The Desired Outcome

The company was looking to solve these challenges by:

  • digitising essential HR processes
  • tackling operational inefficiencies
  • reducing the volume of calls to their contact centres
  • reducing the time their HR department was spending managing paper-based payslip distribution, payslip corrections, and queries
